Canon Pixma MX870 - An Evolutionary Inkjet Printer
The MX870 is a replacement for the MX860. The prefix MX means that it was designed primarily for home office or small office use instead of photographs. This model has a basic process of printing with no CD/DVD features. The four modes are are fax, photo print, scan and copy. The machine has a 63mm colour LCD display and a numeric pad. There are also two paper feeders. The five Canon MX870 ink cartridges are situated in the head carrier and each has an LED warning light to alert you to low levels of ink. The print speeds for this machine are quite low and the consumables, i.e. the Canon MX870 ink cartridges are not the cheapest around.
Canon MX870 Printer Cartridges
The Canon MX870 printer ink cartridges produce pretty good print quality with bright accurate colours and smooth gradations between shades. The black text is not so good with some feathering at the edges. Cost per page amounts to 2.4 pence for black and white and 7.9 pence for colour. Using Canon MX870 compatible ink cartridges, these costs per page can be reduced by around a third.
